Myspace Marketing - Fact Or Fiction?

Unless you have been living under a rock, you certainly know about MySpace, even if you are not a member. As of this writing, MySpace has over 150 million members and growing. Needless to say, it has become quite a popular hangout for a lot of people. Of course any time you have a hangout that popular, youre going to get people trying to do things there that theyre not supposed to be doing, like blatant advertising. Or didnt you know that advertising on MySpace was against their terms of service?

Many people claim ignorance, but the rules are clearly stated. No advertising is allowed on MySpace. Thus, it brings us to the crux of this topic. Is MySpace marketing even possible? Well, the answer, believe it or not, is a resounding yes. It all comes down to how you go about doing it. Thats where this article comes in. Hopefully, the tips presented here will give you a few ideas of how to get your business seen on MySpace. This stuff is subtle, so you have to pay very close attention. Please note that everything that will be stated here is totally within the MySpace terms of service.

The first thing you want to do is get your MySpace account. After you do this, the very next thing you want to do is set up your blog. Dont do any advertising on the blog because youll get shut down faster than you can imagine. Just put up your interests and something about yourself. Keep it on a personal level and lighthearted.

Make sure you have all your interests posted on you MySpace page. Gradually, over time, people will see your page and request to be added to your friends list if they share common interests with you. But even before this happens, you need to search around and find other friends that have the same interests that you have. When you find them, request that you be added to their friends list.

Over time, you are going to make quite a few friends. But youre still not going to do any advertising.

What youre going to do is start telling your friends about these really great and free things youve found related to your interests. If you send them enough of these free items, which can include some of your own giveaways, eventually you will really gain the trust of these people. Theyll start asking you if youve discovered anything new. The more you give them, the more you gain their trust.

Eventually, youll reach a point where youll be able to tell them about something that isnt free. If theyve been on your friends list for a while, there is a very good chance of making a few sales. The more friends you have, the more sales youll make.

Naturally, this is not a get rich quick process and shouldnt be your only source of income, but if you add this to your marketing arsenal, there is no reason why you cant make a few extra bucks each month. Over time, as your friends list gets bigger, your income will grow along with it.

Is MySpace marketing even possible? Sure it is. You just have to know how to go about it.
