How to Use Social Networks to Complement Your Blog or Web Site Part II

2. You can make these websites into a more comprehensive company website. Its not unusual for start-up companies to begin with static pages. You cant blame them. After all, maintaining a website can actually be costly, not to mention the other costs you have to incur for every feature you add into your webpages. Social networking websites such as Myspace gives you a much cheaper alternative. You can make use of its blog feature, for example, to share new information about your products and services. You will not only get external visitors but internal as well, courtesy of the websites other registered users.

3. You can make these websites into an internal company website. You can separate your virtual bulletin from your company website. Its easier for webmasters to maintain the companys site this way. You can then utilize these social networking websites as an electronic bulletin board for your employees. You can then invite all of your workers to register. As an administrator, you can set up groups, bulletins, and blog entries.

4. It creates a whole new level of interaction. When you speak of company website, you seldom see polls and other interesting and fun features. Yes, its for the sake of looking professional. Social networking websites, however, gives you more freedom to play around with incredible cool features, which you can add into your profile. You can develop surveys, quizzes, or promote your business through avatars, banners, and logos that other users can embed into their respective social networking pages. It may require you, however, to be somehow knowledgeable with HTML.

5. You can share videos and photos. Company-sponsored events and videos will add more sophistication and credibility into your business. You can also share these to other social networking website users by embedding their codes into your profile. Its also how you make use of the power of viral marketing.

You should know that dealing with popular social networks has its own share of disadvantages too. One of them is that you cannot expect privacy in social networks as they can be accessed by anyone. Still, if you have developed a very solid social network, it will be not hard for you to maximize your sites visibility. If a lot of users will like your profile in these social networking websites, they will also likely have got to your main website or blog.
