School kids love winning prizes and getting recognition for a job well done. A competition or prize program can be a good incentive for students and families to participate in a school fundraiser. Just keep in mind that prize programs should be fairly distributed. Each child who participates should get some kind of recognition. Students who reach certain goals may get additional awards.

Some companies who provide fundraising programs simply offer a gift of their product for a certain number of products sold. This can be an excellent gift, as your school has chosen this fundraising program because you feel they have terrific products. This gives families a chance to enjoy additional products at no charge. A program that offers your students fundraising incentives is a terrific benefit, and something to consider when selecting programs.

You can also give everyone gift cards as a thank you prize. Gift cards give the convenience of permitting people to select their own prize. Many families appreciate receiving a gift card as a fundraising gift. This prize can be donated by area businesses.

Some schools find that electronics are a popular thank you prizes. Students now have cell phones, MP3 players and so many other gadgets. Video games can be popular prizes as long as they are parent approved video games. Again, these can be donated or underwritten by sponsors such as area businesses.

Another popular option for a fundraising reward is to offer a group activity, such as taking the winning children to an amusement park as a special field trip. Or you could take everyone to a pizza place or family style restaurant for a celebration. Many schools award these group activities to an entire class, or the entire school, if students collectively reach the schools goal. This style of prize is great because it awards group effort and helps students work together instead of in competition with one another.

It is also important to simply thank parents for supporting the fundraising efforts as they play a critical role in your programs success. Send them a thank you letter sharing with them how much money was raised this year and what the money will be used for.

On the other hand, awards can be a slippery slope if not handled with care. Some students may focus too much on getting the prize, as opposed to helping their school. If your prize is not good enough other students may complain that its not worth the effort. (They may be right; dont use cheap toys as prizes that are likely to break.)

Prize competitions should not encourage children to engage in unsafe behaviors. Now days most schools do not want students going door to door to sell products. Rather, group activities, such as a booth at a local store with parent supervision, are a safer way to reach out to the community. This way the fundraising program is join effort with parents and students.

When managed well, prizes and awards are a terrific thing to offer your students as a way to say thank you and great job! Use this opportunity to show parents and students how much you appreciate their time and the care they have given to your school.

As an ESL teacher, mothers will often ask me what they can do at home to help children learn English. The mothers are not confident because they worry that their own English is not good enough to help their children.

However, there are many things that can be done at home to help children learn to speak English. These things are easy to do and do not require a lot of English ability. If fact, a few of them require no English at all!

Every chance your child can have to be exposed to English will slowly but surely help to improve their English ability.

1. Buy English videos and let your children watch them at home.
2. Go on a shape walk. Show your child a particular shape (square, triangle, circle) and walk around the house or outside and see how many times your child can recognize that shape.
3. Get a picture dictionary and look at it with your child. These are books for young learners that have many pictures grouped by topic (animals, occupations, etc.). Point to the pictures and have your child identify them.
4. Count things. Whenever you have a chance, count things with your child–the number of steps to the door, the number of red blocks that he has, the number of carrots he can eat.
5. Buy many story books and read them to your child.
6. Point to different things in the house or outside and ask your child what color it is.
7. Buy some CDs of English songs and play them in the car.
8. Pick a “letter of the day” and see how many things your child can name that start with that letter.
9. Make a special family book, or just look at family photos. Have your child point out mommy, daddy, sister, brother, grandma, grandpa, etc.
10. Have things on hand for writing practice. Pencils, pens, crayons, and markers are great…but also consider letting your child use chalk outside, finger paints, or colored soap in the bathtub. Encourage creativity.

By trying out even a few of these suggestions, you will be helping your child to learn English at home and you will definitely see improvements over time.

A stated income or no doc mortgage loan allows individuals with difficult to document income to buy a home. With a documented credit score and reasonably stated income, you can qualify for a mortgage at a slightly higher rate. Getting Started

When you are ready to apply for your mortgage loan, you can complete your application online by entering your personal information over a secure server. Final paperwork will be mailed out to you to review and sign. Once notarized, you send the forms back to the lender for their final approval.

By doing this, your students are going to have a big shock if eventually they get to try out their English in real-world situations, that is, outside the classroom. For English speakers who are not EFL professionals are not so considerate toward non-native speakers. They will continue at their normal pace and expect everyone to keep up. So if your students are used to y o u …s p e a k i n g …s l o w l y… a n d … d e l i b e r a t e l y … l i k e … t h i s…they wont have a cat-in-hells chance of understanding the New York taxi driver or the Scottish barman they meet on their travels.

So is it better to babble on in your normal voice? I thought about this when a student of mine had a fairly typical grammar problem with the to infinitive. She would regularly say, *I want go, forgetting the particle. I decided that since corrections didnt seem to work, I would show her what it sounds in real English: I wanna go. In the real world, native speakers dont pay any attention to the fact that the little word to belongs to the following verb, and routinely attach it to want so it becomes wanna. If you taught your students wanna first, they would simply add the verb they want and forget about the grammar rules. The advantage of this is that they will at the same time be practising spoken English the way natives use it.

I have the advantage as a language teacher to have two small children who are learning my language, English, and their mothers, French. It is nothing short of miraculous that my daughter can understand, at the age of three, when I say what are you going to do?; because what actually comes out of my mouth is more like watcha gonna do? Only when she learns to read will she realise that there are actually six words in the question and not three. But thats of little importance to her while shes mastering the spoken word, and it should be the same for your students.

Only rarely do adults say that they need writing skills more than speaking, and yet we still put too much emphasis on the written word. Its time for language teachers to teach English in a way that is best going to serve their students in life, and not treat language as a purely academic exercise.

Nowadays gratitude is making a comeback as it is associated with many self-improvement programs and pop psychology books. If you show gratitude to someone for something they have done, or so the argument goes, that the more you express gratitude then the more you have to be grateful for. If someone has gone to the trouble of inviting you to a birthday party and you have had a really enjoyable time then it is only good manners to express that in one of the personalized thank you cards that are available in many stores as well as online.

If you are the parent and someone has invited your child or children to a birthday party where they have had a fun time then it is a good idea to educate your child into expressing their gratitude. Friends can send one of the specially designed children birthday thank you cards to the person whose party they attended, telling them that they had a good time.

It is surprising how much emphasis people place on things like thank you cards because they see it as an appreciation of all their hard work. Having said that, sending the kids birthday thank you card from child to child helps to cement friendships and make the other child feel valued. Children who are persuaded to express their gratitude in this way are often very pleased with themselves and the results once they have done it. Making the process an enjoyable venture is a way of instilling good habits that last into later life.

The health care industry is fast growing all over the world. As there are more and more ways to fight infections, heal people, and make people feel better about themselves, there are more and more job openings for scientists, pharmacists, nurses, medical technologists, and doctors. There are also thousands of people applying for jobs in this burgeoning industry, so you may find it difficult to stomach the competition if you emerge nave from school and expect to find employers dying to hire you.

To penetrate through the crowd of job applicants, you will need to be competitive: you have to have the highest grades, the best resume and work experience, and great recommendation letters. You also need a great cover letter to show what the rest of these documents dont: the fact that you have personality, you can handle the stress of the health care profession, and you are resourceful. Moreover, a great cover letter can sometimes make up for average grades, a thinner-than-usual resume, and flat recommendations.

Why is a cover letter so powerful? Your resume will list only your qualifications, but it cannot show you how confident you are after earning all these qualifications. Your transcript of records will show how well you did on your examinations, but it cannot tell your prospective employers how well you applied all the things you learned in real life situations. Your recommendation letters can say that your professors or former employers were pleased about you, but they cannot say if you can meet the goals, mission, and vision of your new employers.

Your cover letter should therefore show personality, your ability to be resourceful, and your goals aligned with those of your prospective employers. Your medical cover letter is your chance to show that behind all those achievements is a living, breathing human being who is not only about books and the academe, but who can get out and work and be a productive member of society. Take advantage of this power by creating a great medical cover letter.

Show that you can lend a personal touch to what you do, and be resourceful while doing so. Do a lot of research on the health care institution to which you are applying, and make sure that its goals are aligned with yours. Are you working on a study that matches the research work done at the health care institution? Mention this study, and show that you can contribute a lot to the institution, thanks to your expertise. Your medical cover letter is, in essence, a love letter to the health care institution: show that you are compatible, and that you can benefit a lot from each other.

Unlike a gushy, mushy love letter, however, a good medical cover letter should be terse and to the point. Avoid using language that might make prospective employers roll their eyes or reach for their dictionaries. Your prospective employers have little time to digest poetry or hear about your adventures in your laboratory. They want to see if you are fit to work for them, so get straight to the point.

Ask for an interview, then provide all your pertinent, valid contact information. Add one last personal touch by signing your name. Wait, and then do follow up calls if you do not hear from your prospective employers.

Writing a cover letter can be difficult if you do not know your goals and achievements. If you know yourself, however, and if you can successfully convey your passion and enthusiasm for the health care industry, then you can land the job you want. Just be your professional, tactful self, and that cover letter may soon spell your success in this career.

Being an entrepreneur includes many challenges. Opening a dollar store is no exception. One of the challenges is in being so close to your business that you lose sight of changes that are occurring in that business. Yet daily, weekly and monthly sales data can be early indicators of changes in business operations.

If you are opening a dollar store be sure to allot time to examine sales data for your store. Of course formal monthly, quarterly and annual examinations should occur with your account as well. But dont wait for meetings with your accountant. If you are opening a dollar store examine the data yourself. Examine store sales on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.

The daily examination should be primarily focused on total store sales. If you are a very large store by-department sales results could also be examined. This examination is to note changes in sales against previous days and the same day in previous weeks. If your sales are up or down significantly look for causes for this change. Successfully opening a dollar store dictates that the time be invested to fully investigate significant changes in daily sales.

Weekly and monthly examination should include total store sales as well as by-department sales results. If changes are detected a lengthy set of questions should be answered to help understand the potential cause of the changes. Among the questions to ask yourself:

Have there been significant changes?

What are the reasons for those changes?

If sales are down, what actions are required to recover sales?

If sales are up, what are the causes for the increase?

Have new departments risen to the top and former top selling departments dropping to the bottom?

Is there a need to adjust inventory levels within specific departments to match those sales?
This is all important data for management after opening a dollar store.

While data collection and analysis can be rather boring when compared to other tasks associated with opening a dollar store it is important. Analysis of daily, weekly and monthly sales data is something that must be done. Sales data can provide early warning when there are business changes (Both positive and negative changes!) occurring in your business. Be aware and address changes in your business quickly.

Social networking sites, to be effective and efficient for business applications, should have a clear picture of what an entrepreneur exactly wants for his business. He must define his missions and visions which would serve as the companys framework in achieving his objectives.

Browsing over several works of industry experts, I came across some useful guidelines which when strictly implemented, can be an enormous help in getting the most out of social networking sites. I call it the 4Gs of online business networking. Please read on.

Get focused.

To get the desired results, you should institute a set of system to guide you so that every business undertaking is well aligned with your objectives.

Get prepared.

There is no substitute to knowledge and preparation as these will get you started efficiently and effectively.

Get engaged.

Passive participation can get you nowhere, hence the need to be actively involved in order to get real business value.

Get to know people.

Relationships are more valuable than mere database entries of the people you meet. Know your contacts and find ways on how you can be of service to each other. Follow up is important in generating new business effectively.

To equip you even more, do not forget there are more tools available on line to assist you. The Internet is just a few clicks away and it is yours for the taking. Blogging is another way of complementing your participation in social networking sites. Once you are already there, always be on top of the situation and take control of your inbox regardless of the quantity of e-mails you would generate.

If some or all of the above processes are followed in the correct manner, there is always a 99.99% probability that social networking sites can lead you to successful business networking.

You may also want read some articles about small businesses in a similar niche magazine or web site that matches the market of your company or product. These news stories were most likely based on press releases that the company wrote and thus, you should see what type of information is included in these articles. Include similar information in your press release.

Although it would be nice if a major news publication submitted an article that went on praising your company and your product but understand, the vast majority of credible news sources do not do this. Instead they provide the facts and their own opinions, not opinions presented in a press release. Hence, to get the most coverage and best possible results from your press release, simply state the facts. If you want to give opinions, do so in quotes, as most news stories include direct quotes from company representatives.

The overall goal of a press release is to generate buzz and interest in your companys product or service; however, if you make your press release a reworded sales copy, you will get very little coverage from your release. Not only that but many press release distribution services may reject you press release all together.

To review: Only state the facts in your press release and avoid going too deep into stating opinions. When you finish writing your press release proof read it. Make sure it sounds like an article you would expect to find in a credible news source. If it does, than chances are you wrote a good press release and it will get picked up by many sources. If it doesnt, then you have some editing to do to polish up your press release so you can increase the chances of getting massive exposure. The last thing to do is to submit your press release to as many press release services as possible.
